To catalyze job growth via entrepreneurial growth, FM 90.5 and seven national franchisors are combining efforts to create 100 jobs in 100 weeks in Peterborough. Presidents/VPs/Directors of seven companies representing approximately 1,700 franchises have targeted Peterborough for expansion.
Franchising has been chosen as the cornerstone of the initiative, offering a higher success rate for entrepreneurs. Franchise operations are based on proven systems; refined by franchisee after franchisee, and thus experience a higher success rate, and hire more people.
FM 90.5 is providing the franchisors with six figures in free advertising – including a 13 week advertising campaign to seek a Peterborough franchisee, and once the franchisee is ready to start, the franchisee receives a free 13 week advertising campaign on FM 90.5 to help expedite their launch – no strings attached.
The companies were introduced at the Best Western Plus Otonabee Inn on Thursday March 28, at the luncheon for attending media and local officials. Corporate executives outlined “Why Peterborough?”, why owning one of their franchises can benefit an entrepreneur, and why the end consumer will be able to benefit from doing business with each of their Peterborough franchises.
Following greetings by Deputy Mayor Henry Clarke, Danielle Deal of the Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation spoke to the organization’s being willing to sit down with entrepreneurs to help develop and arrange for business and financing plans. City of Peterborough Councillor Lesley Parnell underlined the City’s willingness to work with businesses wanting to start and/or expand in Peterborough.

A Big Thank-You!
Special thanks to General Manager Allen Morrison and Sales Manager Nicole Mieske and the kitchen crew of the Best Western Plus Otonabee Inn at 84 Lakeshore Rd. E. for hosting the event. Your responsiveness, attention to detail, kindness and compassion made all of us feel welcome during our stay. The luncheon’s stuffed roast chicken meal was absolutely mouth-watering.
